acquaintance rape

Forced or coerced sexual intercourse by someone who is known to the victim. Typically, the victim is in some social encounter with the perpetrator such as a date or private meeting and is then manipulated into sexual intercourse through physical violence, restraint, threats, or power. The perpetrator ignores protests or interprets them as subtle encouragement. Often victims do not report the event, and frequently they or their assailants do not identify it as rape.
