agoraphobia

An irrational and persistent fear of being in unfamiliar places or of leaving one's home. Most people with this condition make special efforts to avoid crowded rooms, public transportation facilities, tunnels, and other environments from which escape seems difficult and where help is unavailable. Agoraphobia often accompanies panic disorder.
