APA citation system

The format and style by which references are indicated in the texts of academic books and scholarly journal articles as developed by the American Psychological Association. The system is now preferred by most social science publications, including the social work literature. In this style the references are “cited in the text using the author's last name, and date of publication” (Beebe, 1993, p. 181) with the full reference at the end of the article, with all the other articles referred to, and placed in alphabetical order by author's last name, for example, as in: Beebe, L.
