உடலின் மூட்டுகளில் ஏற்படும் வீக்கம் மற்றும் வலி. இது நாளமில்லாச் சுரப்பிகள் செயல் இழப்பதாலோ, நரம்புக் கோளாறுகளாலோ, தொற்று நோய்களாலோ, வயோதிகத்தாலோ வரலாம். முதுமை மூட்டழற்சி (osteoarthritis), கீல்வாதம் (gout), முடக்கு வாதம் அல்லது கடும் மூட்டழற்சி (rheumatoid arthritis) போன்றவை இதன் முக்கிய வகைகளாகும்.
