தொழிலாளர்கள் அணியும் உடைகளை வைத்து தொழிலாளர்களை வகைப்படுத்தும் முறை. உற்பத்தியில் ஈடுபடும் தொழிலாளர்கள் தங்கள் உடைகள் நீடித்து உழைக்கும் பொருட்டு முரட்டு கித்தான் அல்லது பருத்தி ஆடைகளையே அணிவதால் அவர்களைக் குறிப்பதாகவும், மேலும், குறைந்த ஊதியம் பெறுகின்ற, அதிகக் கல்வியறிவு தேவைப்படாத வேலைகளைச் செய்பவர்களைக் குறிப்பதாகவும் இச்சொல் பயன்படுகிறது.

Members of a wage-earning socioeconomic class. The term originally applied to people who worked in factories or manual labor settings in which blue or dark clothes were worn and was used to distinguish these workers from those employed in offices or retail stores (white-collar workers).
