Bruno, Frank J.

(1874–1955) One of the first developers of a theory base in the new field of social work, he led the George Warren Brown School of Social Work at Washington University in St. Louis for many years. A civil rights activist, he worked to achieve opportunities for minorities in social work education. He wrote some of the most influential early social work texts, including The Theory of Social Work in 1936.
