(1877–1960) Medical social work conceptualizer and developer, she advocated for the establishment of social work departments in the nation's hospitals and published influential works for the field, including Social Work in Hospitals in 1923. She was a founder of the American Association of Hospital Social Workers, which was renamed the American Association of Medical Social Workers (AAMSW).
