Catholic Worker Movement

The sociopolitical movement that began in the 1930s under the leadership of Dorothy Day (1897–1980) to promote social justice and social welfare for all, particularly immigrants to the United States, unemployed and marginally employed breadwinners, and people of color. The movement has been influential in advocacy for pacifism, equal rights for women and African Americans, and organized labor unions.
