பெற்றோரோ அல்லது பாதுகாவலரோ தன்னைச் சார்ந்திருக்கின்ற குழந்தைகளை வேண்டுமென்றே அடித்துத் தாங்க முடியா அளவிற்கு சரீர உபாதைகளைக் கொடுத்து, தொடர்ந்து பரிகாசம் (கேலி) செய்து, இழிவுபடுத்தி, பாலியல் ரீதியாகக் கொடுமைக்குள்ளாக்கி, குழந்தைகளின் உடலையும், மனதையும் துன்புறுத்தலுக்குள்ளாக்குவது. இப்படித் துன்புறுத்தலுக்குக் காரணமானவர்கள் மீது சம்பந்தப்பட்ட அதிகாரிகளிடம் புகார் செய்து சட்டப்படி நடவடிக்கை எடுக்க சமூகப்பணியாளர்களுக்கு சட்டம் உரிமை வழங்கி இருக்கின்றது. .
