குழந்தையின் பெற்றோரிடமிருந்தோ, சட்டபூர்வமான பாதுகாவலரிடமிருந்தோ சட்டத்திற்குப் புறம்பான முறையில் தூக்கிச் செல்லுதல். இது இரண்டு வகைகளில் நடைபெறுகின்றது. 1. குடும்ப உறுப்பினர்களாலே செய்யப்படுவது. பிரிந்து விட்ட பெற்றோர்களில் ஒருவரோ, அவர்களின் உறவினரோ, குழந்தையைப் பராமரிக்க நீதிமன்றத்தால் அனுமதிக்கப்பட்ட பெற்றோரிடம் குழந்தையை ஒப்படைக்காமல் மறுப்பது. குழந்தையைப் பார்க்கவிடாமல் மறைத்து வைப்பது 2. குடும்பத்தைச் சேராத அந்நியர் குழந்தையைத் தானே வளர்ப்பதற்காகவோ, பிறரிடம் விற்பதற்காகவோ, வேறு தீய நோக்கங்களுக்காகவோ (பெற்றோரை மிரட்டிப் பணம் பறிக்கவோ, கொத்தடிமையாகப் பயன்படுத்திக்கொள்ளவோ, பாலிச்சைகளுக்காகப் பயன்படுத்திக்கொள்ளவோ, உறுப்பு மாற்று வர்த்தகத்தில் ஈடுபடவோ) குழந்தையைக் கடத்துதல்.

English

The illegal act of removing a dependent child from the legal care and authority of the parent or guardian, usually by another of the child's relatives. Most typically, child snatching occurs among families that are dissolving, as in divorces or foster care placements, and one of the former caregivers does not accept the legal ruling granting custody to another person or group. The unauthorized person takes the child and often conceals the child's whereabouts or otherwise keeps moving so that the authorities have difficulty returning the child to the rightful custodian.
