சமூகப் பொருளாதார ரீதியாக பின் தங்கியவர்களின் சார்பாக வழக்குத் தொடுக்க அனுமதிக்கும் ஒரு சட்ட முறை. இதில் சமூகப்பணியாளரே, பாதிக்கப்பட்ட மக்களின் ஒருவர் சார்பாகவோ, ஒரு குழுவின் சார்பாகவோ வழக்குத் தொடுக்கும் போது, அந்த வழக்கின் தீர்ப்பு பாதிக்கப்பட்ட அனைவருக்கும் நிவாரணம் தரும். இதில் சமூகப்பணியாளர்கள் வழக்கறிஞர்களுடன் இணைந்து வழக்கை நடத்துவர். இந்த மாதிரியான சட்டநடவடிக்கையை மேற்கொள்ளும் சமூகப்பணிச் செயல்பாட்டைப் பிரதிநிதித்துவ சட்ட சமூகப்பணி என்பர்.
