Forcing or compelling an individual or group to perform (or stop performing) some activity. This may occur through legal actions, government interventions, social influence, or political pressure, as well as through threats of violent harm. An important role of social workers, especially those in community organization, is to bring people together so that they can resist the attempts of others to coerce them into actions they do not want to take.
