ஒரு குறிப்பிட்ட வகையான தூண்டல்களுக்கு ஒரு குழுவோ அல்லது சமூகமோ ஒரே மாதிரியாக எதிர்வினை ஆற்றும் பாங்கு. ஒவ்வொரு மனிதரிடத்திலும் அவர் அந்தரங்கம் சார்ந்த நனவிலி (unconscious) மனம் இருப்பது மாதிரி, சமூகத்தின் பொதுப்புத்தியும் உறைந்து வெளிப்படாநிலையில் இருக்கும். இது வெளிப்படுத்தப்படலாகாது என்று அடக்கி வைக்கப்பட்ட எண்ணங்களல்ல. மாறாக நம்பிக்கைகள், விதிமுறைகள், பழக்க வழக்கங்கள், கல்விப் பயிற்சியால் அடையப்பெற்ற பண்பாட்டுப்பேறு ஆகியவற்றால் உருவாவது.
