communication disorders

A group of disorders classified in the DSM-IV (Washington, DC: American Psychiatric Association, 1994) as “disorders usually first diagnosed in infancy, childhood, or adolescence” and pertaining to limitations in the ability to impart information to others. The disorders that comprise this group include expressive language disorder, mixed receptive–expressive language disorder, phonological disorder, and stuttering.
