disability benefit

The provision of cash, goods, or services to one who is not capable of performing certain activities because of a physical or mental condition; a form of categorical assistance based on incapacity. In the United States, the Disability Insurance (DI) program for disabled people and the Supplemental Security Income (SSI) program for needy disabled people are currently the most extensive examples of this type of program.
