dissociative disorder

A type of mental disorder characterized by a sudden, temporary change in the normally integrative functions of consciousness, identity, and memory. Specific forms of the disorder include dissociative amnesia (which may be selective or generalized, continuous or intermittent), dissociative fugue, dissociative identity disorder, and depersonalization disorder.
