இயலாதவர்களைக் காப்பகங்களில் வைத்துப் பராமரிப்பதைத் தவிர்க்க, அவர்கள் இல்லங்களுக்கே சென்று சில சேவைகளைச் செய்து தர (அமெரிக்க) மாநில மற்றும் உள்ளூர் அரசுகளின் மனித சேவைத் துறைகள் செய்து தரும் ஏற்பாடு. வீட்டுப் பாராமரிப்பு சேவைகள், வீட்டிற்கே சென்று உணவளித்தல், உதவியாளர் பணி புரிதல், ஒய்வு நேர சவரணை (respite care), வீட்டில் வழங்கும் தாதியர் சேவை போன்ற சேவைகள் இதிலடங்கும். சில மனித சேவை நிறுவனங்கள் domiciliary care என்பதை, வீட்டுப் பராமரிப்பு சேவைகளையும், homemaker services என்பதை மருத்துவப் பராமரிப்பு சேவைகள் சார்ந்ததாகவும் வேறுபடுத்தி உதவுகின்றது.

Programs usually conducted by local and state departments of human services designed to assist people to remain in their own homes even if they are having problems that preclude basic self-care. Such programs include homemaker services, home-delivered meals, chore service, home health services, respite care, and attendant care. This is also called home care service. Some human services agencies use “domiciliary care” to refer to programs that help needy people with the physical maintenance of their homes, and “home care” to refer to homemaker services.
