The DSW degree requirements typically include several years of previous experience in social work practice, acquisition of required preliminary degrees such as the MSW, successful completion of prescribed doctoral-level course work in a qualified school of social work, passing written and oral comprehensive examinations, and successful completion and defense of a dissertation. Most DSW programs are affiliated with professional schools of social work that are part of accredited colleges and universities.
