ஒரு குழுவோ, நிறுவனமோ பயன்மிக்க முடிவெடுப்பதற்கும், அந்த முடிவின்படி திட்டமிட்டுச் செயல்படத் தேவையான தகவல்களையோ, செய்முறை விளக்கங்களையோ அக்குழுவிற்கு / நிறுவனத்திற்கு பயன்படத்தக்க முறையிலும், தேவையற்ற ஊகங்களுக்கு இடமளிக்கா வகையில் அவர்கள் மனமேற்கும்படி சொல்லப்படும் ஆலோசனைகளை நிபுணர் கருத்து என்று சொல்லலாம். ஒரு நிபுணர் அளிக்கும் தகவல்கள் ஒரு குழு செய்ய உத்தேசித்திருக்கும் செயல்கள் பற்றிய நியாயமான கணிப்பினை வழங்குவதான அறிவார்ந்த ஊகங்களின் அடிப்படையில் அமைந்திருக்கும். உதாரணமாகத் தொடர்ந்து நிந்தனைக்குள்ளாகும் ஒரு குழந்தையின் ஆளுமை எப்படியெல்லாம் பாதிப்பிற்குள்ளாகும் என்று நீதிமன்றத்தில் சமூகப்பணியாளர் தரும் கருத்தை வல்லுனர் கருத்திற்கு உதாரணமாகக் கொள்ளலாம்.

This information tends toward “educated guesses” and providing reasonable prognoses about the future consequences of an act the group is thinking about implementing. For example, a social worker may be asked by a court of law to provide information about the possible long-term harm and emotional consequence to a victim of child abuse.
