மொழி வெளிப்பாட்டுச் சிக்கல்கள் அல்லது மொழியின் மூலமாகத் (வாய்மொழி மற்றும் எழுத்து) தொடர்பு கொள்வதில் ஏற்படும் சிக்கல்கள் என்பது அடிப்படையில் தகவல் தொடர்புச் சீர்கேடாகும். இவர்களிடம் கருத்துக்கள் இருந்தாலும் அந்தக் கருத்துக்களை வெளிப்படுத்துவதற்கேற்ப சொல்வளம் இல்லாதது, சொற்களைப் போதுமான அளவிலும், புரியும்படியாயும் வார்த்தைகளாக்க முடியாதது, வினையின் காலத்தைத் தெளிவில்லாமல் பயன்படுத்துவது, (errors in tenses) கருத்துகளை வெளிப்படுத்துவதில் சிரமப்படுவது போன்றவை இதன் அறிகுறிகளாகும். இந்தச் சீர்கேடு கற்றல், தொழில் செய்தல் மற்றும் தொடர்பாடலில் குறுக்கிட்டுத் திறனழிக்கும். இது வளர் பருவச் சீர்கேடாகக் கருதப்பட்டாலும், (Developmental expressive language disorder) தானகச் சரியாகாது. இதைச் சரிசெய்ய பேச்சுப் பயிற்சி சிகிச்சை தரப்படவேண்டும். சில நேரங்களில் மருத்துவக் காரணங்களாலோ, அதிரிச்சியாலோ மூளை பாதிப்பிற்குள்ளாவதாலும், வலிப்பினாலும் இந்தச் சீர்கேடு உருவாகலாம்.

A communication disorder characterized by markedly limited vocabulary and amount of speech, difficulty producing sentences of appropriate length and complexity, errors in tense, and general difficulty expressing ideas. The language difficulties interfere with academic or occupational achievement or with social communication. This disorder may be developmental or acquired (as a result of medical conditions such as head trauma). If mental retardation, motor or sensory deficits, or sociocultural deprivation is present, the language difficulties are greater than usually found in those problems.
