நடக்காத செயல்கள் நடந்ததாக மிகத் துல்லியமாக, சந்தேகத்திற்கு இடமாளிக்காத அளவு நினைவு கூறும் கோளாறு. துயர் மிகுந்த, வலிநிறைந்த சம்பவங்களை மறக்க நினைத்தாலும், அது நினைவுக்கு வரும்போது, அதை முற்றிலுமாகவோ அல்லது சிலபகுதிகளைத் திரித்தோ சொல்லும் கோளாறு. குழந்தைகளுக்கு எதிராகப் பாலியல் வன்முறைகளில் ஈடுபட்டவர்கள் சட்டத்திலிருந்து தப்பிக்கக் கையாளும் மறதிக்கோளாறு.

Confabulation, the act of filling gaps in memory by fabricating and reporting these thoughts. Some clients with this syndrome come to believe they remember an event that did not happen. Others who have used repression or suppression to help avoid the distress of painful experiences eventually remember but distort all or parts of the experiences. The many others who eventually remember and accurately report what truly happened are not, of course, experiencing a false-memory syndrome. This is often used as a legal defense by accused child molesters. See also memory recovery therapy.
