Hamilton, Gordon

(1892–1967)Social work educator and writer who advanced social casework in the profession. As an educator, she helped develop doctoral training in social work, and as a writer, she produced the classic social work text Theory and Practice of Social Casework (1940, revised in 1951), used by countless social work students. She was also the first editor of the journal Social Work.
