An independent social work organization to promote the profession's research capacity and provide technical assistance to social work researchers, provide research training, establish linking and networking opportunities for researchers, and develop a researcher database. IASWR was organized in 1993 through the efforts of several social work organizations, including the National Association of Social Workers (NASW), the Council on Social Work Education (CS WE), the Association of Baccalaureate Social Work Program Directors (BPD), and the Group for the Advancement of Doctoral Education in Social Work (GADE).
