Nursing residences for older people who are not fully capable of living alone but do not require full-time nursing home care. ICFs usually have medical and nursing care conveniently available and provide social programs and room and board, but the residents can usually handle activities of daily living (ADL). See also skilled-nursing facilities (SNFs) and continuing-care retirement communities (CCRCs).
