உள்வாங்குதல் என்பது தான் சார்ந்த குழுக்கள் அல்லது முன்னுதாரணக் குழுக்களின் (reference group) கலாச்சாரம், மதிப்பீடுகள், மனோபாவம், நிலைப்பாடுகள், (சிந்தனை, செயல்) பாணி, சமூகக் கடமைகள் போன்றவற்றைத் தொகுத்து, தன்னுள் உட்பொதிந்து தனதாக ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளல். உளபகுப்பாய்வுக் கோட்பாட்டின்படியும் உள்வாங்குதலென்பது, மேல கண்ட அர்த்ததில்தான் கையாளப்ப்டுகிறதென்றாலும், தவறான மதிப்பீடுகளை உள்வாங்குவதன் மூலம் மன அழுத்ததிற்கு உள்ளாகி சிரமப்படும் நிலையையையும் குறிக்கும்.
