joint interview

Variations of the interview format in which more than a single interviewer and interviewee meet. In one form, the social worker or other professional meets with the client and his or her relevant other (for example, teachers, guidance counselors, and classmates). In another form, the social worker meets simultaneously with several clients who may have no relationship with one another. In a third form, the client meets with two or more workers simultaneously.
