ஒற்றுக்கேட்க இயலாத நிறுவனத் தகவல்களைக்கூட அந்நிறுவனத்தின் உள்ளிருப்பவர்களைக் கொண்டு உள்நோக்குடன் கசியவிடுதல் அல்லது பெற்றுக்கொள்ளுதல். இரகசியமாக நடக்கும் இந்தச்செயல், ஒரு நிறுவனத்தை பலவீனப்படுத்த அதன் போட்டியாளர்கள் செய்யும் காரியமாகவோ, நிறுவனத் தலைமையை விரும்பாதவர்கள் தலைமைக்கு தர்மசங்கடத்தை உருவாக்கு முகமாகவோ செய்யலாம். சில நேரங்களில், ஒரு செய்தியைப் பற்றி மக்களின் கருத்தறிய சம்பந்தப்பட்ட நிறுவனமே செய்தியைக் கசியவிடலாம்.

Anonymous intentional transferring of information to the media usually by an insider to achieve some public relations purpose. It is done anonymously to weaken the position of an opponent, to avoid sanctions or disapproval by the holder of the information who may have power over the leaker, or to assess the impact of the information before it is officially disclosed.
