உரிமம் பெற்ற சிறப்புத் தொழிலினர், தனக்குப் பதிலியாக உரிமம் பெறாத உதவியாளர் ஒருவரைத் தனக்குப் பதிலியாகப் பணியிலமர்த்தி, உதவியாளரும் உரிமம் பெற்ற சிறப்புத் தொழிலினர் என்று வாடிக்கையாளர் கருதும்படி, வாடிக்கையாளரைக் கையாளும் நடைமுறை. சமூகப்பணியாளர்களில் சிலர் உரிமம் பெறாத உதவியாளரைப் பதிலியாகப் பணியிலமர்த்தி தொழில்நெறிகளை மீறுவதுண்டு. பெரும்பாலான உளப்பிணி மருத்துவர்கள், உளப்பிணி சிகிச்சையளிக்கத் தங்களுக்கு பதிலியாக சமூகப்பணியாளர்களை நியமித்து, சிகிச்சையளித்து உளப்பிணி மருத்துவருக்குரிய கட்டணத்தை வாடிக்கையாளரிடமிருந்து பெறுவதுண்டு. இதில் தவறு நிகழும் போது, அதற்கான தார்மீகப் பொறுப்பை, இழப்பீட்டை உரிமம் பெற்ற உளப்பிணி மருத்துவரே அளிக்கவேண்டும்.

The practice in which a licensed professional employs an assistant to perform functions that would lead a reasonable-thinking client to consider the assistant a licensed professional. Social workers sometimes practice dubious ethics by hiring unlicensed assistants to see some of their clients. It is more commonly done by psychiatrists who hire social workers to do psychotherapy with their clients while charging the client the higher physicians' rate. In such cases, the supervisor or employer may be liable for any damages even if that person has never seen the injured client.
