long-term therapy

Psychotherapy or other forms of intervention in which the professional and the client expect to meet regularly, longer than three months, often years. In this form of therapy, the goals are extensive and not specified or even precisely known in advance, and the issues dealt with in the sessions are not restricted. See also short-term therapy.
