மனநோயால் பாதிக்கப்பட்ட அல்லது அவ்வாறு பாதிக்கப்படும் வாய்ப்புள்ளவர்களைக் கையாளும், மனநல மருத்துவ மனைகளில் பணியாற்றும், உளநல சிகிச்சை நிபுணர்கள் (மருத்துவர்கள்), அத்துறை சார்ந்த துணைத்தொழில் நிபுணர்கள், தொண்டர்கள் மற்றும் பிற பணியாளர்கள் அனைவரும் மனநலப் பணியாளர்கள் என்றழைக்கப்படுவர். இந்தப்பணியாளர்களின் கூட்டமைப்பே மனநலக் குழுவில் தென்பட்டாலும், மனநலப் பணியாளர்கள், மன நலக்குழுவினரைப்போல ஒருங்கிணைந்து பணியாற்ற வேண்டியதில்லை.

Mental health professionals, paraprofessionals, volunteers, and aides who work in facilities or organizations concerned with meeting the needs of the mentally ill or those vulnerable to mental disorder. Mental health workers are distinguished from mental health team members only in that their efforts are not necessarily coordinated with those of other workers to achieve specified, focused goals.
