military social work

Professional social work intervention on behalf of active-duty military personnel and their families. This form of practice is accomplished by social work officers in all branches of the U.S. military. Civilian professional social workers also provide services in Navy, Army, and Air Force settings. Military social workers provide such services as evaluating and treating emotionally disturbed military personnel or members of their families, finding and developing social resources, and facilitating communications not only between military personnel but also between individuals in the military and their relatives who live in other locations.
