மொழியைப் பயன்படுத்தியும், மொழியைப் புரிந்துகொண்டும் தொடர்பாடுவதில் ஏற்படும் கோளாறு. மொழிப் பயன்பாட்டிலும், வெளிப்பாட்டிலும் ஏற்படும் கோளாறு. குழந்தைப் பருவத்தில் அதுவும் பேச ஆரம்பிக்கும் போது வெளிப்படும். இந்தக் கோளாறு வளர்ச்சியில் ஏற்படும் குறைபாட்டாலோ அல்லது இடையில் பெறப்பட்ட கோளாறாகவோ இருக்கலாம். வளர்ச்சியில் ஏற்படும் கோளாறுக்கு என்ன காரணம் என்று இதுவரை கண்டறியப்படவில்லை. பெறப்பட்ட கோளாறு மூளை பதிப்பினாலோ, தலைக் காயத்தாலோ, அதிர்ச்சியாலோ அல்லது பக்கவாதத்தாலோ எந்த வயதிலும் ஏற்படலாம்.

A communication disorder characterized by the presence of expressive language disorder combined with impaired receptive language development (difficulty understanding words, sentences, or types of words). This disorder may be developmental or acquired (as a result of medical conditions such as head trauma). If mental retardation, motor or sensory deficits, or sociocultural deprivation is present, the language difficulties are greater than usually found in those problems.
