A form of probability sampling in which the researcher identifies classes or groups of population members, selects some of the clusters at random, and then selects randomly from each of the chosen clusters. For example, in studying social work students, the researcher lists all the schools of social work, chooses some randomly, and then chooses some students randomly from each selected school.
