அமெரிக்க இந்திய / அலாஸ்கா பூர்வீக வம்சா வழியைச் சார்ந்த சமூகப்பணியாளர்களுக்கான அமைப்பு 1970 ஆம் ஆண்டு தோற்றுவிக்கப்பட்டது. அமெரிக்க இந்தியர்களின் மேம்பாட்டிற்கு உதவும் திட்டங்களை, சட்டங்களைக் கொண்டுவரவும், அமெரிக்க இந்தியர்களின் தேவைகளைப் பற்றிய புரிதலை மற்ற சமூகப்பணியாளர்களிடமும், சமூகப்பணிக் கல்வியாளர்களிடம் உருவாக்கவும், அமெரிக்க இந்தியர்கள் பற்றிய ஆய்வுகளை நடத்ததுவதையும் குறிக்கோள்களாகக் கொண்டு இந்த அமைப்பு செயல்படுகிறது.

The national professional association established in 1970 for social workers descended from Native Americans or Alaska Natives. Goals of NISWA include promoting the welfare of American Indians through influencing legislation, educating and sensitizing other social workers and social work educators about the needs of American Indians, and conducting research about Indian populations.
