நரம்புக் கோளாறை நரம்புத் தளர்ச்சியின் அறிகுறிகளாக, ஒலி ஒற்றுமையுள்ள Neurasthenia, nervousness, nervosism போன்ற நோய்களுடன் இணைத்து குழம்பிக் கொள்ளக்கூடாது. நரம்பியல் கோளாறு, மத்திய நரம்பு மண்டலத்தில் ஏற்படும் காயம், நோய், மருந்துகளின் விளைவாக உடலியக்க ரீதியாக மூளையில் ஏற்படும் முடக்கு வாதம், (பெருமூளை ஆற்றலிழந்த நிலைமை - cerebral palsy), உடல் - தளர்ச்சி நோயான பார்க்கின்சன் வியாதி (Parkinson's disease), வாத ஜன்னி அல்லது வலிப்பு நோய் (seizure disorders) போன்ற நோய்களால் ஏற்படும் உளக்கோளாறுகளைக் குறிக்கும்.

Dysfunction of the central nervous system (CNS) caused by injury, disease, or drugs, and resulting in some forms of organic mental disorders and diseases of the CNS such as cerebral palsy, Parkinson's disease, and seizure disorders. The term should not be confused with similar sounding terms such as "neurasthenia," "nervousness," neurosis, or "neurotic," which are more closely related to an anxiety disorder.
