ஒரு தேசமோ அல்லது பிராந்தியமோ ஆணு ஆயுதத் தயாரிப்பில் ஈடுபடுவதில்லை என்று வெளிப்படையாக அறிவிப்பது. இந்த பிரதேச அரசுகள் அணு ஆயுதங்கள் தொடர்பான அறிவியலை அனுமதிக்காதது மட்டுமல்ல, அதற்கான கட்டமைப்பு வசதிகள், அணு ஆயுதங்கள் திரட்டுவது, அணு ஆயுதப் பரிசோதனைகளில் ஈடுபட அனுமதிக்கவும் செய்யாது.

A nation or political region that has declared itself to be outside the world's involvement with nuclear weapons. Such zones permit no activities that advance the science of nuclear weaponry or the building, storing, or launching of such weapons.
