பாலியல் மன (psychosexual) வளர்ச்சி என்பது பிராய்டின் உளப்பகுப்பாய்வு கோட்பாட்டில் சொல்லப்பட்ட கருத்தாக்கம். மூன்று வயதிலிருந்து ஏழு வயதிற்குட்பட்ட குழந்தைகளுக்கு, எதிர்பாலினப் பெற்றோர் மீது ஏற்படும் ஒருவகையான சிற்றின்ப இச்சை. ஆண் குழந்தைகளுக்குத் தாயிடம் ஏற்படும் இச்சையை தாயிச்சை (Oedipus complex) என்றும், பெண்களுக்கு தந்தையிடம் ஏற்படும் இச்சையை தந்தையிச்சை (electra complex) என்றும் இக்கருத்தாக்கம் குறிக்கின்றது. இந்த ஆழ்மன உணர்வுகள் எதிர்பாலின பெற்றோர் மீது அன்பு செலுத்தவும், தன்பாலின பெற்றோர் மீது பொறாமையையும், வெறுப்பும் ஏற்படக் காரணமாக அமைகின்றது. முறைமீறிய உறவுக்கான இச்சைகள் குழந்தைமை தொட்டே அவர்தம் உள்ளத்தில் புதைந்து விடுகின்றன என்பதை இக்கருத்தாக்கம் வெளிப்படுத்துகின்றது.

In the Freudian theory of psychosexual development, the erotic interest and attachment developed by a young child (usually between ages three and seven) for the parent of the opposite sex and the concomitant feelings of rivalry with and envy of the parent of the same sex. The child's feelings are repressed and unconscious but are often manifested in flirtatious behavior toward one parent and hostile behavior toward the other. See also Electra complex and phallic phase.
