The office within the executive branch of the U.S. government that assists the president in preparing the federal budget and formulating the nation's fiscal program. OMB also helps the president administer the budget and determine if allocated funds are sufficient for achieving their goals. OMB keeps the president informed about how various government agencies funds are being spent and helps in proposing legislation for congressional action.
