அமெரிக்க மத்திய அரசின் பணியாளர்களை நிர்வாகிக்கும் அலுவலகம். பணியாளர்கள் ஆளெடுப்பு / தேர்வு, பயிற்சி, பணித் திறன் சோதனை, பணி உயர்வு, பணிநீக்கம், ஆட்குறைப்பு, பணித் தகுதிகளை நிர்ணயித்தல், ஊதிய நிர்ணயம், சலுகைகள் போன்ற பல பணிகளை இந்த வாரியம் செய்கின்றது. 1978 ஆம் ஆண்டைய அரசுப்பணிகள் சீர்திருத்தச் சட்டத்திற்கு பிறகு, அரசுப்பணிகள் ஆணையத்தின் (Civil Service Commission) பல பொறுப்புகள் பணியாளர் நிர்வாக ஆணையத்திடமும், தகுதிநியம முறைப் பாதுகாப்பு வாரியத்திடமும் (Merit Systems Protection Board) (அமெரிக்க அரசின் பணியாளர் தகுதி நியம முறைகளைக் கடைப்பிடிக்கவும் அதன் நம்பகத்தன்மையை பாதுகாக்கவும் செயல்படுகிற சுததிரமான அரசு அமைப்பு) ஒப்படைக்கப்பட்டது.

The federal organization that administers most of the federal employment system. Its functions include recruiting, training, testing, promoting, firing, and laying off federal workers, as well as maintaining criteria for employment, pay grades, and benefits. OPM was established by the Civil Service Reform Act of 1978 (P.L. 95-454), which transferred the functions of the Civil Service Commission to OPM and the Merit Systems Protection Board.
