Oxford Committee for Famine Relief (OXFAM)

An international voluntary nongovernment organization (NGO) based in London to raise and distribute funds and emergency supplies to those nations and peoples who lack sufficient food or nutrition to maintain quality life. OXFAM works with international relief organizations such as United Nations Disaster Relief Organization (UNDRO) and Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) of the United Nations and with other private groups. It is a member of the Steering Committee for International Relief, which is the informal group of major relief agencies that coordinates disaster and famine relief.
