குழந்தைகளைத் திறமையாக வளர்க்கவும் அவர்களைச் சமூகமயமாக்கவும், பெற்றோர் - குழந்தைத் தொடர்புகளைச் சீரமைக்கவும் மற்றும் பிரச்சனைகளைத் தீர்க்கவும் பெற்றோர்களுக்கு கொடுக்கப்படும் அனுபவரீதியான, அறிவுறுத்தல்களடங்கிய பயிற்சி முறைகள். இதில் கீழேகண்ட பயிற்சி முறைகள் மிகப் பிரபலமானது. 1. தாமஸ் கார்டன் வடிமைத்த பெற்றோருக்கான செயல்திறன் மேம்பாட்டு பயிற்சி - PET (Parent Effectiveness Training), 2. டிங்க்மெயர் மற்றும் மெக்கே வடிவமைத்த திறன்மிகு பெற்றோருக்கான முறைப்படியான பயிற்சி STEP (Systematic Training for Effective Parenting), 3. இயல்பு வாத, நடத்தை மேம்பாடு மற்றும் சமூகக் கற்றல் கோட்பாடுகளை மையப்படுத்தி வில்லியம் கிளாசர் வடிவமைத்த பெற்றோரைக் குழந்தைகளுடன் சேர்ந்திணைக்கும் பயிற்சி (Parent Involvement Program).

Didactic and experiential educational programs to teach parents how to be effective in child rearing and socialization, parent-child communication, and problem solving. The best known of these programs include PET (Parent Effectiveness Training), STEP (Systematic Training for Effective Parenting, which was developed by D. Dinkmeyer and G. McKay on the basis of the recommendations of Rudolph Dreikurs), PIP (Parent Involvement Program, developed by William Glasser on the basis of his reality therapy concepts), and behavior modification approaches (developed from social learning theory).
