தங்கள் குழந்தைகளின் உடல், மன மற்றும் சமூக வளர்ச்சிக்காகப் பெற்றோர்களும், வளர்ப்புப் பெற்றோர்களும் கையாளும் வழிமுறைகள். இந்த வழிமுறைகளைக் குடும்பச் சிகிச்சையாளர்கள் / உளவியலாளர்கள், பலவகையாக வகைப்படுத்துகின்றனர். குழந்தைகளின் போக்கில் தலையிடாப் பெற்றோர்கள் (laissez-faire), தயையுள்ள பெற்றோர்கள் (indulgent), கண்டிப்புள்ள பெற்றோர்கள் (strict), அதிகாரம் செலுத்தும் பெற்றோர்கள் (domineering), உறுதியற்ற, முரண்பாடான அணுகுமுறையைக் கையாளும் பெற்றோர்கள் (inconsistent), எப்போதும் திட்டிக்கொண்டிருக்கின்ற, பழித்துக்கொண்டிருக்கின்ற பெற்றோர்கள் (abusive), தேவைக்கும் அதிகமாக சம்ரட்சிக்கும், காவல்காக்கும் பெற்றோர்கள் (overprotective), மற்றும் குழந்தைகளிடம் அன்யோன்யமாயில்லாத, நெருக்கமாயிராத பெற்றோர்கள் (detached parenting styles) என்று வகைப்படுத்துகின்றனர்.

The predominant characteristic manner by which parents or parent surrogates provide the opportunities for their children's psychological and social development. Various family therapists, writers, and commentators have given myriad names for these styles. Some of the better known are laissez-faire, indulgent, strict, domineering, inconsistent, abusive, overprotective, or detached parenting styles.
