Clergy or former clergy who provide counseling and psychotherapy to clients, either within the auspices of their churches or in autonomous practices. Many of these professionals obtain their training as counselors within theological schools, whereas others obtain additional education in schools of social work and other fields. They tend to specialize in marital therapy, premarital guidance, and spiritual counseling.
