A therapeutic technique used especially for socially isolated children and adults who might have difficulty relating to the social worker on a one-to-one basis or who cannot tolerate small groups. The therapist sees the client and another person who has similar characteristics (such as age, gender, or type of personality) to- gether and treats both simultaneously. This model has been used most frequently in schools, residential facilities, hospitals, and clinics.
