ப்யூன் என்ற வார்த்தை ஒரு அலுவலகத்தில் கவுரவமற்ற, அதிகாரம் ஏதுமில்லாத, அதிகத் திறமை தேவைப்படாத குற்றேவல் செய்பவர்களையும், முக்கியத்துவம் இல்லாதவர்களையும் குறிக்கும் சொல்லாகத் தற்காலத்தில் பொருள் கொள்ளப்பட்டாலும், கடந்த காலத்தில் கடனின் பொருட்டோ அல்லது சட்ட நிபந்தனைகளின் பொருட்டோ ஓரிடத்தில் கட்டாயப் பணி செய்யும்படியும், அடிமையாக வேலை செய்ய நிர்பந்திக்கப்பட்டவர்களையும் குறிக்கும்.
