பிராய்டின் உளப்பாலியல் வளர்ச்சிக் கோட்பாட்டின்படி குறியின்பப் பருவம் என்பது மூன்று வயதிலிருந்து ஆறு வயது வரைக்குமுள்ள மூன்றாம் நிலையாகும். இந்தப் பருவத்தில், குழந்தைகளின் பிறப்புறுப்புக்களே குழந்தையின் உணர்வுமிக்க (erogenous zone) பகுதியாகவும், இன்ப இயல்பூக்கத்தை தூண்டும் பகுதியாகவும் அமைகின்றது. சுயபாலின பெற்றோர் மீது விரோத உணர்வும், எதிர்பாலின பெற்றோர் மீது அன்புறவும் ஏற்படும். தாயிச்சை அல்ல்து தாய்க்கும் மகனுக்குமான அன்புறவு இந்தப் பருவதிற்குரிய நிகழ்வாகும்

The third stage in psychosexual development theory that occurs approximately between ages three and six. During this phase the child's zone of pleasure centers in the genitalia. The Oedipus complex is a culmination of this phase, during which the healthy child works through rivalry with the parent of the same sex so that a loving relationship can exist with both parents and self-esteem can develop in the child.
