A dissociative disorder characterized by an individual's sudden travel away from familiar places, inability to recall past events, and sometimes by the assumption of a new identity. The condition is not the result of organic mental disorders or malingering, although it is difficult for professionals to determine if the individual is feigning or actually unable to remember previous life experiences and location of home.
