relocation camps

Temporary living facilities for groups of people who are compelled to or choose to move. Such camps usually are established by governments, with the assistance of private organizations and volunteers, to help people become re-established in a new area. These people often are displaced from their previous homes by war, famine, natural disaster, or political and economic conditions. Some are involuntarily held in such facilities because they are considered too dangerous to be assimilated into the new country. See also internment and sociocultural dislocation.
