சமூகப்பணியின் முக்கியமான மூன்று செயல்முறைகளில் ஒன்று. அவையாவன - சமூகக் கணிப்பு (Study), குறையறிதல் / நோயறிதல் / பிரச்சனையறிதல் (Diagnosis), 3. குறை களைதல் / சிகிச்சை (Treatment). சமூகக் கணிப்பு நிலையில் ஒரு வாடிக்கையாளரின் அல்லது விடயத்தைப் பற்றித் தொடர்புடைய தகவல்களை முறையாகச் சேகரித்து, தொகுப்பதன் மூலமாகக் கிடைக்கும் குறையறியும் ஞானத்தைக் கொண்டு குறைகளைய திட்டமிடல்.
