அங்கீகரிக்கப்பட்ட சமூகப்பணிக் கல்லூரிகளில், சமூகப்பணி பாடத்தில் இளங்கலை, முதுகலை மற்றும் முனைவர் பட்டம் பெற்றவர்கள். இவர்கள் தங்களின் அறிவையும், திறனையும் உபயோகித்து, தனிமனிதர்கள், குடும்பங்கள், குழுக்கள், சமுதாயங்கள், நிறுவனங்களுக்கும், ஒட்டுமொத்த சமூகத்திற்கும் சேவை செய்பவர்கள். மனிதர்கள் தங்களின் பிரச்சனைகளைத் தாங்களே சமாளிக்கும், தீர்த்துக்கொள்ளும் திறனை வளர்த்துக் கொள்ளவும், துன்பப்படுகிறவர்களுக்குத் தேவையான உதவியாதாரங்கள் கிடைக்க உதவியும், சக மனிதர்களோடும், சுற்றுப்புறத்தோடும் ஒருங்கியங்க உதவியும், நிறுவனங்களை / சமூக அமைப்புகளை மக்களுக்கு பொறுப்புடையதாக்கியும், சமூகக் கொள்கை வடிவமைப்பை மக்களுக்கு ஆதரவாயிருக்குமாறு அழுத்தம் கொடுப்பவர்கள்.

Graduates of schools of social work (with either bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degrees) who use their knowledge and skills to provide social services for clients (who may be individuals, families, groups, communities, organizations, or society in general). Social workers help people increase their capacities for problem solving and coping, and they help them obtain needed resources, facilitate interactions between individuals and between people and their environments, make organizations responsible to people, and influence social policies.
